Dell StreakUpdate on Android 2.2 (Froyo) this Month

Now it is certain: the Dell Streak gets in the course of this month (November), an update to Android 2.2 Froyo. This was confirmed by the press office of the manufacturer is now available on request from CHIP Online.

Will this work on bought unlocked in germany NOT from a carrier/provider streaks that have NOT been rooted and are STILL running 1.6?
Yes, it is a good question? What happened with non rooted unlocked streaks working in other countries without official streak carriers ? Are we able to update it ?

You may remember that i did, in fact, try the 2.1 upgrade path you detailed there.
And i will repeat my Problem from there here too:
“Does not work for me, all i get is this:
FOTA model name mismatch. The device will now reboot.”
And i will freely admit, that as a noob in these things, i did not dare to try and follow the instructions for the 2.2 upgrade, as i don’t understand half of what’s written in there to begin with . .
Dell Backup and Restore app now available in app market, specifically for the Streak.. Good indication that the update is nearly here. App works great.
How do I unlock my streak.? I just bought a few days ago but not happy bc I cant view video bc no flash player. I’d like to dl new os 2.1 or whatever latest is. Just curious, y u so passionate abt streak?

Change to message from clicking on System updates:
Used to give simple message: System up to date.
Now shows Dell logo with header: Software Update
Message: No software updates available at this time.
Also has language links to French and German.
Maybe it means nothing but rumor has them rolling out updates starting Monday 15th. I really hope this is the case.
