How-to: Hard Reset Your Dell Streak & Restore To Original Settings

We show you how to factory reset the Dell Streak to clear all data and restore its original settings

The Dell Streak is highly customizable and you have been hard at work tweaking it to your liking, but now the fun is over and you want to return it to its factory settings again.

Here, we show you how to hard reset the Dell Streak with step by step instructions.

Please note that all data will be deleted from the Dell Streak as a result of this procedure. This process may or may not delete data stored on the microSD card. We recommend backing up all of your personal data before proceeding.

First, try this:

  1. From the main home screen, tap menu
  2. Tap Settings, then Privacy
  3. Tap Factory data reset
  4. Tap Reset device
  5. Tap Erase everything

If that doesn't work, or if your phone is frozen:

  1. Turn the power off. If your Dell Streak is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
  2. Hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons
  3. Press and hold the Power button until the device turns on
  4. Press and release the Volume Down button until Factory Reset is highlighted
  5. Press and release the Camera button to select

All data including third-party applications will be deleted from the Dell Streak. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

    I just bought a Dell Streak for $0.11 CDN, $25 FutureShop gift card and a 3 yr Rogers $50/month contract. The salesman in the store had a low opinion of the product.

    The first step when buying a new device is using those same directions above but choosing “calibrate the screen”
    Do not touch the screen while it calibrates!

    I suspect that the Corning Gorilla glass screen pressure changes over time/during shipping and recalibrating the screen every 6 months is required.

    Other than that, I’ve found this to be the best value purchase I’ve ever made :)

    I love watching DivX video on the train ride into work. HD MKV converted with DivX Converter 7.1 using a 720p profile but size modified down to 800×480 aprox gives the best audio/video quality for playback. It can do 1024×576 but audio goes out of sync.

    I hve a dell streak and ive just update dellstreak into 2.2.2 froyo but
    After that my dell streak cannot be auto rotate is there any one
    Can help me the prblm….:(

    Hi anyone know what to do?
    I have had my dell streak for a year and it has been fine. i did the 2.2 update about 4 months ago but yesterday my alarm went off to wake me up at 6 but at seven the phone was completely frozen! i took the battery out but the dell froze when entering the pin! so after about an hour for it to sort it self out i decided to restore it to factory settings! it didnt resolve it self but about an hour later it let me input the pin so that i could use the phone for the day :) but when i woke up this morning the issue came back and now i cant use my phone again as it wont let me enter me pin! i have just done the factory reset and its bin about 30min’s and i still cant enter pin :(

    i have dell xcd35 . i have start up problem ,my mobile hangs at the start up. i want to factory reset it but as i followed ur steps it is showing some icon named ftm and i dont have a camera button pleas help me to reset my phone
